Household white goods (Fridges, freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers), televisions, computer monitors and hard drives.

Ferrous characteristics:

• Magnetic
• Usually, steel, light iron, Cast Iron, Appliances, cars/Trucks
• Least valuable scrap metal

Non-ferrous characteristics:

• Not magnetic
• Copper, Brass, Aluminium, Stainless Stell & more
• Most valuable scrap metal

Take a magnet and place it on your metal. If it sticks, then the metal is most likely ferrous. Ferrous is unfortunately not worth much money.

J.C Metal Recycling  does not purchase ferrous metals but are happy to advise on how it can be recycled in the correct manner.

If the magnet doesn’t stick you are in luck and your scrap metal is going to be worth some money.
